In order to achieve the highest level of success when conducting interdisciplinary research, certain skills are required. For example, it is essential to be a team player. Today, students in particular, (from personal experience), are encouraged to seek help from their peers and collaborate with one another when researching data. It is also very important to be open to new ideas and exploration, in the hopes of gaining knowledge and learning new information that may have been initially overlooked. Both academic proficiency and creativity are also essential with respect to doing interdisciplinary research effectively. Being creative allows one to think outside the box, reading and analyzing material from a different perspective.
